This website is a collaboration between Tuneboss Malaysia (FSR Technology) and NorthCust to bring you Tuneboss ECUs and provide after-sales/installation/tuning support.
Intro from NorthCust:
This started about 3 years ago, before Covid started.
I had been talking to “Legend” of Legends Garage in his discord server and he’d claimed he managed around 95mph on his gen2 R125 with only this one little tuning box. Naturally, given the lengths I’d gone to with my R125 (big bore kit, hot cam, PCV+Autotune etc…) and that I still wasn’t able to hit 95, I was rather frustrated, but a lot curious: how? (spoiler: RPMs is how).
I had to have one of these boxes, so I contacted Tuneboss HQ in Malaysia to see if I could buy a couple of their devices. Unfortunately they had been a limited run and were all gone. I asked to be notified if they ever became available again. Meanwhile I heard of a few of the original devices being used in the racing circuit and anyone who had one, wasn’t parting with it. That seemed like a good sign to me, apart from the “there being none to be had” part.
[3 years pass]
In the summer of 2024, I get an email from Tuneboss HQ asking if I’m still interested in ECUs. Of course I am!
We had further conversations and things kinda escalated a bit, and here we are. As far as I’m aware, there aren’t really many/any other R125-specific tuners here in the UK, and I already try to remotely help with fixing/diagnosing bikes on the forums so there’s (hopefully) quite decent after-sales support, and I have a background in ecommerce and web stuff too, so it sorta worked out nicely. I have been waiting for-everr to get my hands on these devices so I’m stoked to be part of the development process rather than having to reverse-engineer stuff like usual after the fact.
Tuneboss have been excellent to work with so far and their commitment to quality and dealer support is a breath of fresh air, so I’m very pleased to work on this project with them. It’s also very nice to work with a company that understands and appreciates grassroots tuners (more on that later). I very much appreciate them putting their trust in me both to do this development and to represent their brand and distribute their devices in the UK and EU.
Since this is still a fledgling operation and we’re still finding our way, these ECUs will arrive and be processed in small batches, grouped by generation (1/2/3), since I want to make sure every customer gets proper after-sales support.
Since there is no 125cc limit in asia, the R125 doesn’t exist, instead they have the R15 with 150cc. That means there’s no easy way for Tuneboss HQ in Malaysia to make a map for the R125, so we’re having to make the maps here for the UK and EU 125cc market.
Hence we have an untouched and *mint* 2019 to test and tune (see header pic) and we’re using that to build the maps which will become The Maps for the UK and EU bikes.
The 2019/ Gen3 Model will be the first to ship. The gen 1 units are ready but there’s no map yet, and gen 2 are nearly ready and will follow over coming months.
We have development versions of the gen3 ECUs in the country already and running on our new 2019 test bike and I’ve just today (31/05/2025) seen for myself the autotune feature working properly which means I’m now confident I can produce a decent map for the UK/EU bikes, and hence have opened this website up too. Gen1 dev ECUs are here too and will follow as soon as we’ve got the gen3 under way.
On a personal note:
Given my experiences over the last 5+ years trying to tune my R125, everything has been a struggle and often crazy expensive. Power commander V: £450, autotune: £250, Dyno session: £200….. and the PCV doesn’t actually allow you to adjust the timing or RPM limit (as the packaging would suggest), so the only way to achieve that is hacking the OEM ECU which is a royal pain to do and not straightforward (or cheap) at all.
So for me to then luck upon a device like these new TuneBoss ECUs is… frankly, amazing. I waited 3 years for one and it was totally worth the wait. There is nothing else like this out there which covers all three generations of bikes*, nevermind all that for less than you can pick up a PCFC, which can’t do half as much.
The level of control over every aspect of the bike’s running is fantastic. Fuelling, timing, rpm limit, injector angle, cold-start compensation, and if you’re a tuner/tinkerer you can get an o2 bung welded into your exhaust**, plug in a wideband and enable “StayTuned” (like dynojet’s ‘autotune’)…oh and it does proper data-logging too so you can go back and review exactly what was happening during the run.
The next stage is going to be building the actual maps for the 2019 model which will be happening over coming weeks [currently in progress]. Once we have the map fully built the 2019 units will hopefully be ready to buy. Also once I have working maps I’m confident in I’ll be taking both bikes to a nearby test track to measure how much difference it really makes.
Info and updates, as well as first opportunity to buy units once on sale will be posted on the mailing list
*Uma make a similar spec ecu for gen1 but they just resell and good luck with after sales support, or anything but a gen1
** if you need a bung welding into your exhaust this may be something I can also help with. email for more info
