How to set up datalogging

If you have datalogging enabled and leave your phone connected, when you click “Start” on the home screen (dashboard), live data is streamed to your phone and stored in a logfile as you ride. These logs can later be analysed in the app to understand the bike’s behaviour/performance.

To enable data-logging go to the settings page (swipe left from the dashboard) and check the “record datalog to file when using dashboard” box. The default frequency has been ok for me so far but adjust as needed.

The data logged includes engine data (rpm, TPS, temp etc) as well as speed, gps data (google maps), so you can see your route matched up to your speed/rpm etc. If you are using StayTuned with a wideband O2 sensor, AFR/Lambda data is also logged. The logs are stored in your phone under:

Android/data/com.fsrtech.fl.tuneboss.mngr/files/TunebossData

*(based on android 7, will update once tested on others)

To actually log data for a ride you will need your phone connected since the data is streamed from the ECU to your phone, where it is then stored in a file.

That means also means gps and bluetooth on which chew through phone battery, so if you have a usb charging port on your bike then you’ll probably want to make use of that.

Log a trip

Connect to the ECU and click start. Once the engine is running you should see the values updating on the dashboard. That’s it, you’re logging, now go ride!

If you want to double check the data is being logged correctly before you set off. Try revving the bike a few times, then stop the dashboard and go check the logfile. You should see the “trip” listed and be able to view the data on your phone (see below).

♦ The app can sometimes disconnect while riding which is very frustrating, so it you have a phone mount that will likely let you spot a disconnection more easily than if you put your phone on an inside pocket or in a rucksack.

View a trip (logged data):

From the dashboard click “Trips”, which is here:

That brings up the “Trips” page. Click on the icon on the right of each trip to view it:

Select the parameters to view from the drop-down lists at the top and then move the slider at the bottom to see how they change over time. The map in the window above should update with your location at the time too (I had no internet at the time I made this screenshot hence it’s blank).

♦ I have requested a way of exporting the logged data in a standard format like CSV so it can be analysed on a bigger screen. Currently the data stored is binary and I haven’t had time to decipher it yet, and a CSV export would mean you don’t need to rely on 3rd-party tools.
